Introducing the GYS 901 Certification Programme: Elevating Quality for Guyanese MSMEs
Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are vital to Guyana’s economy, driving innovation, employment, and overall growth. However, these enterprises often struggle with the high certification costs associated with the internationally acclaimed ISO 9001:2015 standard.
In response, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) has developed the “GYS 901 – Quality Management System for Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises.” This national certification programme, managed by the GNBS, is a pivotal stepping stone designed specifically for MSMEs in Guyana. By achieving certification, enterprises can set themselves on a path towards international certification or simply elevate their operational performance.
The programme addresses essential occupational safety and health requirements, enabling MSMEs to optimise processes, ensure safer work environments, and deliver superior quality products or services. GYS 901 Requirements for Quality Management System (QMS) for MSMEs Standard
GNBS offers National Certification under its quality management certification programme with its GYS 901 QMS standard. This standard applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organisation supplies. It prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met. The GYS 901 standard is designed to apply to virtually any product or service made by any process in Guyana.
