These standards included the grading of pines, cucumbers, watermelons, and green plantains. The Agro processing standards featured included the standard for jams and jellies, fruit and vegetable juices, cassava bread and honey.

Meanwhile, the services offered by the Legal Metrology Department were extensively promoted during the event. Officers communicated the link of accurate measurements to the packaging and sale of agricultural products locally and internationally as they engaged those that visited the booth.

Visitors were also advised as to the various weights and measures services, and why it is necessary to buy from users of verifies, scales, masses and measures. They were also educated on their responsibilities as consumers engaging in the purchase of goods by measurements, and the proper use of the International System of Units (Metric Units).

More than 800 patrons of the event stopped by the GNBS booth and were educated verbally, as well as collected printed materials on GNBS services and standards. Interestingly, a number of those patrons knew about the GNBS and some of its services. They commended the GNBS for its efforts to implement standards within the various sectors of Guyana’s Economy.
